Details
In triathlons, any little advantage, no matter how small it seems, adds up to big savings in the long haul. Every detail of Bontrager's RXL Hilo Triathlon shoes are made to make you more efficient, period. The main strap is huge, no fussing around, just slam your feet in there and flip the strap— done, even while on the bike. The heel loop is huge, so even with wet hands, there's no fumbling trying to get your finger in or out. The microfiber uppers with flow-through mesh panels combined with perforated ergonomic inForm footbeds dry quickly and give you airy comfort on the hottest days. Bontrager's super-light carbon soles offer the ultimate in power transfer and support, too. Say hello to new PRs.
A clever rubber band anchor allows you to set your pre-clipped shoes in a horizontal position for faster entry.

In order to mount your pedals' cleats to your shoes, they must have matching bolt patterns. There are 3 configurations (diagram) used on cycling shoes, SPD-R, Look/SPD-SL and SPD. Road shoes feature one, two or even all three of these. Mountain-bike shoes usually use the SPD pattern. If you have any questions about cleat compatibility, please contact us. We're here to help!

Comments:
I purchased these shoes as an upgrade to my existing road bike shoes, to use when racing triathlons. The first thing I noticed was the extreme light weight of this shoe, and the no-tongue design. Not having a tongue makes the shoe very easy to get in/out of, even with one hand when exiting TI and entering T2. I like the fact that the strap lays to the outside (versus to the inside like many other triathlon shoes), this makes it much more natural to strap and unstrap on the go. These shoes even have a small loop on the inside of the heel dedicated to tying off a rubber band and holding the shoe horizontal for easy mounting when leaving T1. The carbon sole is nice and stiff, I noticed a big difference from my other shoes that lacked a carbon sole. These seem to be much more efficient, applying all your power to the pedals. All in all, this is an excellent shoe at a very reasonable price. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
