Wheels

$935.00 - $2,199.90
When creating the R-Sys, Mavic's goal was to provide gran fondo racers and all cyclists who love the mountains with the best possible wheel choice to achieve their climbing goals. The R-Sys SLR pushes the limits of aluminum-rimmed wheel design with the technological advantages you expect from the legendary wheel-maker to result in the lightest clincher wheel in Mavic's lineup. The exceptionally strong Maxtal alloy is streamlined into lightweight, yet strong rims by the ISM 4D process, which machines away excess material from where it is not needed. Mavic's Tracomp spokes work both in traction and compression, delivering significant advantages over traditional wheel designs that rely entirely on spokes that are strictly in tension. Under heavy loads, instead of losing their tension, Tracomp spokes enter into compression and continue to support the wheel with a high degree of lateral stiffness, all while lowering overall wheel weight and rotating mass, which means stiffer, lighter, more efficient wheels. This ultralight wheel spins effortlessly on QRM SL hubs, housing smooth and durable bearings in a very weight-optimized hub body. R-Sys SLR wheels come equipped with Mavic’s Yksion Pro tires, featuring front- and rear-specific designs constructed according to the differing demands you place on each. These wheels benefit from an Exalith 2 rim finish, which delivers enhanced braking performance in wet and dry conditions while extending the longevity of the braking surfaces, as well as the appearance of the rim. Experience the flyweight result of more than 100 years of expertise on Mavic’s R-Sys SLR wheels.

The advantages of carbon rims are well-known by now: They are light, they are stiff, and they can be built to be nearly indestructible. But with this new trail-riding wheel, we also focused on ride quality. There is such a thing as too stiff, and the XA Elite was developed over time to find the perfect balance that also includes just enough vertical compliance to smooth out the ride quality and optimize tire performance. It all starts with the layup of the carbon fiber itself. We went through several iterations to arrive at the perfect formula, as deemed by our experienced test riders. The rims have an asymmetric shape and are 30mm wide, perfect for getting the most out of just about any trail riding tire. We use 24 straight-pull spokes to further dial in the spot between lateral stiffness and vertical compliance. The hubs feature our new ID 360 freewheel for durability and fast engagement. They are set up for 6-Bolt discs and compatible with all current axle standards, including Standard and Boost spacing. Lightweight feel (1650g) for fast climbing and agility on the trail - Full-carbon rim delivers quick acceleration and a responsive feel. Better traction and control, plus a reduced risk of punctures - 30mm internal width rims are optimized for larger trail tires. - Hookless rim profile reduces tire burbs and creates stronger rim. More control, more confidence on the trail - Laterally stiff with just enough vertical compliance - Two-cross spoke pattern on the front and rear creates a smooth, comfortable ride quality.

Save energy on the climbs and rail rugged descents with higher speeds and total control. Mavic engineered the XA Pro Carbon to be significantly lighter and laterally stiffer than any aluminum wheel, but also retained the impact resistance and vertical compliance that gives Mavic Wheel-Tire Systems the ride quality they’re known for. The XA Pro Carbon is the lightest wheel system in its category (1490g for 27.5” and 1535g for 29”). So you know it helps you climb and accelerate faster, but where it really shines is in the way it handles rough and challenging terrain. Mavic engineered a wide 26mm hookless rim profile that’s fully UST Tubeless compliant for improved traction, puncture resistance and ease of use. These asymmetric rims are fine-tuned to optimize spoke tension and they use 24 double-butted steel spokes to find the sweet spot between lateral stiffness and vertical compliance. Hubs are 6-Bolt only and compatible with all current axle standards including Standard and Boost.
