Great bike for the casual rider

By

from Wilmington, DE

About Me Casual/ Recreational

Pros

  • Good value
  • Durable

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Mountain Biking

    Comments:

Have had my 3700 for a year. Rode a Trek 930 before. Have put over 200 miles on the 3700. The brakes stopped squeaking after a couple of months. I beat the heck out of this bike and have not had a single issue. Streams, deep mud, rocks and tree trunks have all been crossed. Will probably buy another for my 14 year old son who is outgrowing his 17" Trek 820. Wouldn't want to race it because of the weight and 26" rims that get hung up on obstacles that 29ers can cross, but it's great for this weekend warrior.

      Comments:

I go mountain biking a lot with this bike. It can handle some dirt trails well but not super rough trails. Tires can be better. Brake makes noise but you just need to break through them. Overall good bike for entry level.

      Extremely squeaky disc brakes

      Comments:

Extremely disappointed in the disc brakes, I took it in FOUR TIMES to get them fixed, but they just continue to make an awful ear-wrenching sound when they are applied.

Awesome Bike for a Great Price

      About Me Casual/ Recreational

      Pros

      • Easy rolling
      • Lightweight

      Cons

      • Very Noisy Brakes
      • Uncomfortable Seat

      Best Uses

      • Trail riding
      • Commuting/City

      Comments:

I purchased this bike as a replacement for my previous Wal-Mart bike and what a difference! This is the perfect bike for the casual rider who occasionally goes on the trails. The factory seat isn't the most comfortable for longer rides and the brakes are pretty noisy at first but overall this is an awesome bike with an incredible price. I highly recommend buying this bike, you won't be disappointed!

A Great Bike for the Average Rider!

      Pros

      • Crisp shifting
      • Disk brakes
      • Large suspension fork
      • Versatile

      Cons

      • No lockout
      • Fork is a little squishy

      Best Uses

      • Light Trail Riding
      • Commuting/City

      Comments:

I bought this bike to use as my main "around town" bike. I own a TREK 4300 which I use as my Off Road bike, allong with an old 4500(college bike) and an '04 4100(too small). This will be my fourth TREK mountain bike, which will be replacing my 4100(still in great condition), and the first one I have from TREK's 3 series. I intend to use this bike for the next 15-20 years(with proper maintenance) as a bike for on-road exercise and light trail riding with friends and family. I do not recommend using this bike for heavy off road use as this bike was not designed for big jumps or very rough terrain. The shifting is crisp and on demand and the dics brakes are very powerful. One thing I do not like is that the suspension fork is a bit squishy when you are stand-up pedaling and the preload adjustment is not as strong as I had hoped(why I didn't give this bike a full 5 stars). I love TREK's choice of tires as they are a perfect choice for someone who may be riding on the road one minute and on a hard pack dirt trail(or sand patch) then next. The bike has nice lines and looks sharp. Since seeing my bike, my brother is now looking at getting one too!!

I bought this bike about to weeks ago and i love it i have been riding cheap Canadian tire bikes all my life and this was my first quality bike and it was a home run. First of all the paint job is awesome (love the black rims) which helps my bike stand out. Secondly its not only good on trails but it is also good on the road when i bike to school. All in all i love this bike and for the price i think its a no brainer.
